Filter ideas for new 60 G.

This idea is out there but I have seen a couple shots where they drill a hole INTO the canister filter running wires for a submersible light. They put the fuge in the canister using the canister pump for water motion, live rock, and cheato. Then they clean it out every now and then.

BTW I don't suggest canister filters for salt water tanks.
I have seen them work on FOWLER tanks, but not often.

Here is my sump/refugium with skimmer.
More or less your basic setup.

Another thing if your able to put a sump in a basement or behing the tank in another room/closet/crawlspace then you will have several advantages.
1) greater space.
2) possibly cooler temps(basement/crawlspace)
3) quieter....pumps in other room

Mine is under the tank but think if I had it to do again I would run it into the crawlspace.
Now I still have utilized the concept with my ATO.

Sump/refugium is good because it adds total water volume(harder to mess it up fast), increased biological filtration.

Finally I will try to include a link but there are other folks who make custom sumps...but this is where I got mine done link seems to be down at the moment.
