Float valve ?

I noticed that my sump was low but ATO reservoir was full. I reached in to giggle the float and it fell off causing additional water into sump, not much 1 to 1.5 gallons.
Now I am deciding what to do.

1-Should I drain the sump and replace the float valve?
2-Dig out my old Ice Cap ATO and use that?

I f I use the Ice cap how do I plugged the valve on ATO reservoir? Or should I just but a new 3g tank for the reservoir?

Note: the Reservoir sits on top of the sump right side.

I switched to a dosing pump for auto top off. It's the Best. I can tell when my return pump is slowing down, if I remove water for something or add water the salinity never changes. You can run kalk through it safely. Ato has officially become a waste of money. Before that just a gravity feed with a float because the cost effectiveness is unmatched

How would that work? My dosers are done by time and interval.

Mark, you don't mention the type of float switch, but if it's the ones that have the foam float, they are made so that the float can be removed. Typically they are held on by a small "Jesus" clip. (Note, Jesus clips is my name for those split washer retaining clips that inevitably go shooting off into space when trying to remove them.....and you yell out, "Jesus"....more so with the metal ones.) Find that clip and you can put the float back on. Note that you need to check what way the float goes on.....it reverses whether the switch is normally open or closed. A small magnet in the float opens or closes a micro switch.

You figure the letters

Well if it's a continuous you just set it to run continuous for how much you evaporate. If it's a smaller tank or a 4 head doser you just set it to dose once a hour at whatever your evaporation is divided by 24. Set it as slow a rate as you can. Depends on the size of the tank. If it's smaller you can use any doser. If it's larger you need multiple heads or a continuous doser.

So no electrical connections....it's a manual float valve. If you're in a rush, I'd try Grainger (I think they have a place in Eatontown)....just looked it up, ten bucks. Or try a pond store.
