Flood!!!!!

Just as the title states. Thankfully I wasn't feeling well this morning and took my time getting ready to leave for work, went downstairs and heard something coming from the basement. I flew downstairs to see my carpet soaked and water shooting up out of my sump. I'm assuming a snail got stuck in the return line and caused too much pressure as the line came off at the pump creating a water fountain.

I'm guessing I caught it early b/c the temp in the display had only dropped to 76.8. I sucked up most of the water with a steam cleaner and then shampood the carpets.

The stand obviously got really wet and I dried it the best I could. Do I need to worry about the stand giving out because the wood got wet?

My sump light is shorted out and the controller for my power head is fried. FML.

The stand should be alright if it just got wet this time and it's solid wood, not particle board.

Don't you have clamps on your tubing connections?

Yes, first time getting wet and yes to clamps. I had one of those plastic clamps on the hose on the pump...apparently not tight enough.

Is there a better hose clamp to use? I would assume the metal ones are not a good way to go in the water.

Vinyl cable/wire ties are a good secondary measure. Either next to the plastic clamp or on top of it to keep it from working loose.
