Getting back into the reef hobby

Hello all..

I used to be heavy into the reef hobby in the late 90's early 2k. I have owned numerous large succesful reef systems.
Being out of the hobby ..i know the technology changes rapidly..im sure i would be considered "ol school"
Im looking to get a feel for the recent technology and equipment. In the past my sucess i was useing live rock -live sand systems with big sumps. For equipment i used MTc skimmers- built my own surge tanks and lighting.
Any info for a custom tank builder in Central Nj.. and new technology would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
Keith Buongiorno

i gotta MTC skimmer but im currently using a MRC skimmer. seems like your not to far off, big sumps, skimmer, refugium is the way to go IMO. where in central? welcome back!!

Welcome back!

There is more stuff to chose from and a few new methods to try but the old stuff still works! I still use sand and VHO lighting.

There's some old guy around here that has a 35+ year old tank with undergravel filters.

The forum that Hurtback posted a link to will soon have an article posted by JCurry about the various styles of aquariums kept today.

Hear that Jeff! Someone is waiting for your post! ;D

Hope to see you at the club meetings and MACNA. :)
