We just picked up a beautiful gogonian from trop (The sale was still going on). We have it in the middle of the tank under a 250w MH and have two koralia 2s on either side of it to provide flow. So far so good as the polyps have full extension. We noticed though that the tip have no polyps and are not the bright blue color as the rest of the coral. Should we trim the tips, or is that how it normally looks? We will post picks later.

Well I also got a montipora from Trop this evening. I put the bag in my DT. While the bag was floating I saw something green on the coral. When I looked closely, ,, bubble algae. I then took the coral out in a bucket and noticed there were MANY green bubbles on the rock.

I know someone on a separate thread had the same observation about some corals from Trop. I did not put the coral in my DT.
I have it in my hospital tank and I am taking it back to the store.

I just hope you did not have any bubble algae on your coral. I just happen to look. Sucks cause it is a beautiful coral.

just knock the bubbles off in the hospital tank and have some clean water close and give a good swish. I personally just broke my bubbles off intank and threw them away with no problems.

I tried that. Some bubbles came of and quite a few did not. There were some on the coral tips as well. I am just paranoid I guess.
I am taking it back.

I wouldn't cot the tips of the gorgonian. Might be a shed or new growth. I had one and the tips were always diffferent from the rest of it

We are going to leave it alone, we noticed as the polyps opened only like two tips did not have polyps. So far so good, the polyps are fully extended and they are bright blue which is cool. We checked for bubble and this piece had none, they got it in on thursday and we bought it on friday.
