Gutting out wetdry?

i dont have enough money to make a refugium and i heard that the best thing to do to your wet dry is to takeout the bio balls and replace them with liverock

The problem there is that you need to keep the live rock wet. So if you're going to do this you need to only use as much rock as fits under your low water line.

Alternatively you could add another baffle to raise the water in that chamber. I found it easier to just use an empty 10g tank. That's what we did with our 65.

some will argue that adding LR rubble is no different than the bioballs as they too will gather garbage and generate nitrates or nitrites (forget which one). I've seen most recommend nothing in the sump/refum accept for macro algae's and or xenia for nutrient export.
