I am not the best with this stuff but that does not look like Halimeda...

Google halimeda and look at pics there...

Yeah, doesn't really look like it to me eitheer. A more close up pic of the algae would help in identifying it.
 
yep def looks like some weird space mold only found on live rock that is only found propagating in the land of the bucket....:disillusionment: actually it could be anything-maybe sponge? maybe some kind of um.a....yellowstripdacollis...I'd let it grow and see what comes of it...I def wouldnt lick it or eat it..lol

it doesn't look like Halmidea to me. Halmidea usually has heart shaped leaves that stack ontop of each other like a chain. It looks more like Porites to me which is very common on hitch hiker on live rock.

Edit: I just googled it and it doesn't look like that either.
