Your fuge doesn't have the amount of light your display does (presumably). You're more likely to grow undesireable algae in your display than in the fuge. Bummer, huh?
Your Marco rock was not live rock when you put it in, so decaying organics would be your biggest culprit. Scrubbing the rock to remove the organics would do better for you than "cooking" the rock (since that is essentially what you did when you cycled the rock not so long ago).
