Hang on skimmer question

Hey guys,
I've been wondering about this and figured i would just ask.
How much room do most hang on skimmers give you to fit over the rim of the tank?
Also what hang on skimmer would be a good choice for a 55gal reef?

the aqua c remora is known as a pretty good HOB skimmer. Can't answer the roominess question on the skimmer though. Height-wise I recall the seaclone to be ugly as heck.

I heard the aqua C remora is good but over on RC you get flamed for using one... (Stupid RC people lol)
I just gotta find one that fits with my hood+rim of the tank...

Aqua-C Remora pro does a decent job, I had one on my 65. r0cknice43(shoot him a PM) may have one for sale if you want to try it. If I were to use a HOB skimmer again I would probably cough up the extra cash and get a Deltec MCE600.

I would also look into the Octopus HOB skimmers, IME they are far more efficient than remoras. Only downside is that they maybe a bit hard too come by...
