How can I mod my Koralia 3?

So i'm trying to think of a way to mod a K3 WITHOUT wasting any extra money, this means NO swapping impellers, only cutting, etc.

I'm thinking, what If I cut off about two of the front two guards in this pic.. Will that mess up the whole thing or will it help the flow?

your pic didnt work.

but since we are on the subject on koralia powerheads, just wondering if how many people use the tip piece to make the flow more narrow, or leave it off to make the flow wider?

I use it without for the fact that I only have one for the whole tank and need a more wider spurt..

Well guys I cut off two of the front guards and it seemed to make SUCH a difference!

i would just be concerned with a snail crawling into the propeller

hopefully not, maybe I'll build some kind of guard for snails only

I had a K2 in my nano and tried without...caused a mess...and just put them on in my new tank...hmmm wonder what the difference would be.

you mean the front 4 spokes?

no, those 4 spokes are pivotal to holding the propeller in place. i am talking about the cone device that attachs to the front for a narrow or wider flow. i tried it without and it was way to wild. i find that the attachment gives my tank a strong controlled current. but everyone has different styles/opinions.
