How do you price corals?

Hi Everyone!

Hope all is well, I've been MIA from the site for some time (just busy with family visiting & vacations, my little girl, etc). Hope to start catching up more often.

I was wondering how you work out what to ask for corals you're selling? Other then some corals on LR I've sold I haven't sold anything and really don't know what to charge. I need to part ways with some "tyree LE neon green toadstools" which I'll be totally honest with you I don't really know what that means, other then I paid a crazy amount for a quarter sized one several years ago when I was new to the hobby and "had to have it"... what I'm selling are FAR bigger but I want to charge a fair amount while not short changing myself. Do you try to see what similar things have sold for locally and on RC? Do you compare to online prices? Thanks for any pricing tips!

I've actually been looking at getting the tyree toadstool. The cheapest I've seen the real-deal tyree toadstool sell for was $35. Most are $40+. non-tyree green-polyp toadstools go from anywhere between $15 and $30, average is around $25.

There is a difference between the tyree and most other green-polyp toadstools out there. On the tyree, the entire polyp and stem are green, while the cheaper ones only have the green polyps and the stem is usually light brown/tan.

Candi,
If the pic Chaoscat posted is what you have I would like a frag LMK how much.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to see what size is the norm (I wouldn't call what I have frags anymore, I fragged my big one back in I think it was Feb, these are pretty large now with full stalks etc) and go from there. I'm not great at photographs but I'll take some tonight and post them so everyone can see exactly what it is I have, I was told it was the tyree le when I bought it and each poly/stem is green so I believe its the real thing. Will try to post tonight once my daughter goes down.

i was lucky enough to pick one of these toadstools yesterday... the coral is beautiful, and candi, the tanks look great, and i enjoyed chatting with you.... thanks, again.

Hi Everyone

I'm so sorry for the delay in posting photos, couldn't find my card reader for the life of me and had to buy a new one. Here are some shots of the corals so you can see the coloration, I can't figure out how to get a good anctnic shot so please bear with what I have. I still need to figure out pricing, I know the general price for a "frag" but these are pretty big, wouldn't consider them frag sized anymore so I have to figure out what's fair to charge. I will post them for sale in the for sale forum as soon as I decide, thanks to everyone who offered help in pricing fairly!
