how many watts for growing cheato in fuge?

My fuge is about 18" tall, 7" deep and 36" long. I'd been trying to use one of those cheap clip on lamps from home depot but I'm not growing anything other than user frustration.

So I was thinking of mounting a 1 bulb 24" T5 fixture down there, or spending more more money on an LED under-cabinet fixture. I've seen some under cabinet LED stuff at home depot, but wasn't sure how many watts I'd need.

Any thoughts? Dropping a lot of coin on a fuge light is something I'd prefer not to do.

What bulb are you using in your clip-on.

Have the full spectrum compact flourescent bulb in a HD clip-on and the cheato grows just fine. If I remember correctly, it is 100 or 125 watt equivalent.

Same here I was using a CF flood light (18w) and grew cheato just fine. The spectrum of the CF (compact flourescents) is much different than an incandescent bulb. That may be the issue or not enough nutrients.

I use the drop in fuge light from InTank. Only 25 bucks, and works great in my modded AC110 HOB fuge. Cheato doubles every 3 weeks or so!

I was doing fine with a 25 watt regular bulb. Now I am using a 40 watt reveal white bulb. I seem to be getting better growth from the reveal bulb.
I am also dosing a very small amount of the brightwell iron in my water daily.

I am growing cheato, mangroves, and red gracilaria.

I am cheap old school, clip on light with plant incandescent light.
I took out enough cheato yesterday for about 6 people. I am considering changing during the summer but now the heat is not an issue. CF bulbs you need to find one with a 6500 wavelenght for best results if you are going that route.
