How much would this duncan go for?

Not very well versed on the rarer or australian corals. but i saw this at the lfs and thought it was gorgeous. Its probly about 6" across but they're asking 300$ for it. Is it worth it?

Going price is usually around $15- 20 a head. I'm sure it is worth $300 to someone, just not me.

Duncans are not that rare that it would warrant a 300 price tag. Don't get me wrong that is a beautiful piece of coral, but you can buy a much smaller piece and it will grow in time. Mr. Coral used to give them away for free with a 75$ order so think about that.

yea i thought it is a really nice piece and idk if im patient enough to wait growing one out. I figured id see what you guys said on here cuz Reef Encounter usually has pretty good pricing and ive hardly ever seen corals like that there but apparently they're getting different stuff now cause they had some blue blastomussa, some micromussa, and moseleya (i think thats how its spelled) too all pretty interesting nice looking corals.

my fiancee bought a two-headed dunkan in january; it now has seven smaller heads growing as well as the origional two. Take a look at the JBJ 12G thread in the nano forum.
The new heads are not full grown yet, but the coral is beautiful, and we are enjoying watching it grow.

I would also buy it smaller. Frequent feedings and it will grow big in no time at all. And $300 sounds high for that,

In a lfs you will see that price. It is a very nice piece. I haven't seen Australian duncans go for less than 15 a head. Ocean gallery usually gets them in and frags them for a pretty good price. I picked some up and unlike others I've had these are super green and have very long tenticals. It is a very nice piece.

thanx for the responses everyone... the day after i posted i ran into some car trouble that looks like its gunna cost quite a bit so it doesnt look like ill be picking up any new pieces any time soon :-[.... so if anyone wants it its a gorgeous piece over at reef encounter in hackensack... they seem to have gotten a much nicer selection of corals recently so check em out... ill be avoiding the lfs for a while window shopping doesnt do it for me :-\
