input on automatic water replenishment

I am considering two auto top off units.

1: perastolic dosing pump with float switch

2: ATO pump operated auto top off unit by JBJ with float switch

anyone have any experience with either? Any pros and cons to either?

We use the topoff equipment from www.autotopoff.com and are very happy with it. We have the double float switch and solonoid valve from them. Works flawlessly.

I have used both
If your water source is far away from the tank or it has to pump up more than a few feet i would go with the auto top off.com dual float switch and peralistic pump.I also added a selinoid at the end by my sumpto stop a siphon or extra water dripping down since it has a 7 foot drop from where the tube runs in the ceiling
If your source container is next to your tank use the jbj and a powerhead.
The JBJ doesn't work well with peralistic pumps because it usually times out.

the internal tubes of the peralistic pumps can get exppensive around 20 bucks a pop and i replace it every 6-8 months because when it gets too soft it has a hard time pulling the water but mine is going up 8 feet straight up also so in your situation it might be less wear and tear

I am waiting for a jbj I just got on sale to come in. Looks like a good product.

I was using the ultralife float switch and it works good. The suction cups used to hold it in place don't work well. I make up my own supports. It is a little expensive. Very flexable product. http://www.marinedepot.com/Ultralif...ug_In_Units-Ultralife-UL1111-FIDPETPU-vi.html

The auto top off Phyl referred to looks like a great product. The only reason I went with the JBJ was because it was on sale and to get free shipping on my total order.

I also added a selinoid at the end by my sumpto stop a siphon or extra water dripping down since it has a 7 foot drop from where the tube runs in the ceiling
Instead of adding a solenoid valve you can install an air gap to stop the siphon. An air gap is a simple break in the line at the high point of your supply line before it drops down to your sump.
