Just Checking..

My tank setup, 30 Gallon Tank,Rio Skimmer, Live rock, Turbo Snails, Peppermint Shrimp, Emerald Crab, Red/Blue Hermit crabs.

Was just wondering if there is any other equipment that I should look into buying besides the new lights??

Also this has been a burning question of mine for sometime, Is the plumbing for a tank first of all neccasary and second, is it really complicated to do? Like would you need a plumber to come to your house and help you with it? Just really curious.

i stink at plumbing but I would not get a plumber to do the work. Of course - everyone has different tolerance levels. I expect to make a spill...there is no avoiding it. how bad that spill is - I hope to minimize.

If you can't afford a spill -then obviously a professional might be desired. There may even be a plumber on this site that could chime in if you have a specific question.

in terms of equipment - your lacking powerheads in the tank. A pair of koralias would fix that up quickly.

For a 30 gal tank, you can do quite well using hang on the tank equipment. That being said, some people do like to use a sump, even with it's more complex plumbing.

The plumbing itself is actually rather easy, and once you get the hang of it, goes quickly. About all you need to do is cut the pipe to length. Use primer on the fitting and the pipe. (That's usually the purple stuff you see in picts, but a clear primer is available, and will make a much better looking job.) Use cement on the fitting and pipe. Push together, giving it a 1/4 turn as you do.

Make sure you get all this right the first time. If you are wrong, you got to cut it apart and start over. I recommend getting a few straight through fittings, and a few spare fitting of the other types you use in the project. Most are inexpensive, and it can save you another trip back to the store.

Threaded fittings are simple also. Use about 4 turns of Teflon pipe tape on the male threads and screw them together. Do not over tighten.
