Keep rock live or dry it out?

I am in the process of breaking down my tank as I am moving shortly. My current rock has some hair algae on it. I was wondering it it would be better to let the rock die and re-cycle or keep in in a rubber maid bin in the dark with pump and heater during the move? Let me know what your opinions are.

I would cook it so it is ready to go when you go to resetup. If you dry it out, it will still need to be cooked.

I would let it dry completely and leave it under this summer sun for 2 weeks. That will kill everything in it.

When you are ready agin, cure it like you would any other rock.

What is the timeframe until setting up the new tank? If it is not going to be for a while, let it dry and then recycle it. If you don't have a ton of time, but it in a dark bin and scrub the thing in buckets to get the hair algae off.
