Ken6217 in Manalapan needs help

How about a gun? I'm getting desperate. If anyone is able and capable of getting this guy out of my tank, they can have the gsm, the nem, AND I will help you with a job that you need assistance with as well.

Thanks,
Ken

Transfer the water out of the tank into a clean container until you have enough water out and their trapped in an area where you can get them. Once their out put the water back in the tank. I've seen Calfo recommend this on occasion. Desperate times call for desperate measures. HTH

I am not that far from you so I can try my best to help. I have been "mostly" successful in the past. Just let me know.

Thanks for the posts.

Rich, it wouldn't work. I have 140 lbs of rock in the unlimited spaces beween the rocks. i also would be too nervous with all the the exposed corals etc.

Jazzsam, if you want to help, I appreciare it. Let me know what is convenient for you.

This weekend I am booked up but anytime next week is good. I have a flexible schedule so day or night works for me.

Less hardy corals (sps) are exposed for extended time during big tidal swings in nature so that shouldn't be much of a concern. Vendors are shipping corals wrapped in damp papertowls with success. Simply pour some water over the corals if they appear their getting dry. If you get the fish back into a corner by making a depression in the substrate the fish will migrate to the lowest point. The only other way your gonna catch them is with a trap, by taking everything out of the tank or fishing them out with a barb-less hook. Thinking your gonna catch them with a net, now that their on to what's going on probably isn't going to happen. Merv provided a simple yet effective way of catching them with a soda bottle. I guess that didn't work either?

Rich,
Even with that said, if I took all of the water out of the tank it would be luck if I could get him out that way. There is waay too many places for him to send up. She is even very wary when I feed. I tried getting her before and seems to have a good memory. Yes, I do know I won't be able to net her. I haven't tried the trap yet but I'm sure that the shrimp will take out the food before she will. They try to grab the silversides out of the nem too.

PM me your address and phone number and we can give it a try on Monday if you want.

The trap idea is the least intrusive way to do it becuase the way I normally end up doing this could stress your other fish but we will get him out of there!

Did you try fishing with a tiny barbless hook? (im not kidding)

Yes. I used a #18. I didn't give it a lot of time though. I can tell you that I could have caught my Gold Flake Angel every time though. When I got near the gsm, she moved behind the nem. She's no dummy.
