I may buy one to try. My research indicates that this is a well made product from a reputable company. My main concern is the spread of the light. The manufacturer is recommending it be place 1 to 2 feet above the water. It appears to be more of a spot light design rather than a flood light, with means the light will be a more concentrated "cone" of light, and if I place it at about 8" where my current MH's are, I may not get the coverage I hoping for. I currently have a 180 and it's 72" long, and if this works I was going to replace the 3 150W MH's with four of these and then add some stunner strips to compensate for the 4 PC actinics. Placing them on an angle might be an option too. If/when I can get one I'm going to place it over my tank at night and turn it on with the lights off to get ideas.
I've decided on two Blueline 120W VHO LED's. My local LFS Aquarium Center in Blackwood just redid their coral tanks with this fixture a few months ago. The owner says that these will be more that enough for my 180.
If you're interested in Blueline, why not try THIS ONE at half the price. Comes with a few less whites/few more blues, AND comes from the same factory in China!
I did see that, but thought there were too many inconsistencies between them. One is the weight, the blueline comes in at 11 lbs. and the amazon at 7.5, the amazon claims it will replace a 400w MH, the blueline a 250MH. So, it seemed like if something looks too good to be true.....
