leather excretion

i bought a leather toadstool and moved it from one tank to another. he let out a lot of that brown liquid, which i think is defense mechanism. the brown stuff is still on the top of him and he has lost some luster on the top. will he recover? what can i do to help him. i promise not to move him anymore.

thanks for the help

He should recover. I would put him in some moderate to strong flow to help him shed the mucous coating.

Leathers don't really like being moved around.
