LFS you shop at

Reefco is 10 minutes away from me, and that’s where I usually go once every couple weeks to get phyto. I’ve found that they have the best CUC and LPS selection in NJ / NY. SPS is really good too. Softies sell out fast and thus could be a little better.

The last specimen that I picked up was a beautiful elegance on Black Friday that they had been aquaculturing for 10 years and which is in their main display. So far it looks amazing in my tank.

I haven’t ever seen any significant pests from their corals, unlike some other LFS that I won’t mention. But I still usually try to dip and quarantine new corals.

Besides Reefco, I’d recommend Absolutely Fish in Clifton and 1st Choice Aquatics in Flemington.

I miss going to a LFS. Didn't really appreciate it when it was so close by. I haven't been to a LFS in 9 years! The closest ones were Tropiquarium and what ever John's LFS was called (across the street from Trop).

I picked up a small Elegance from Aquatic Obsession about 2 years ago. I hope it survives the move.

I stopped in Aquatic Obsession last week. I didn’t buy anything, but the owner was very nice to talk to. I was impressed with how many different fish they had - really wanted the moorish idol but don’t think I could properly care for it. Maybe one day..

Good luck with your move!

It's been awhile! What LFSs are still operating, any new ones worth it, etc

Absolutely fish is probably the only one in decent driving distance for bergen county reefers (not many left).

I really miss having Iconic. Joe had a great selection of high end "named" corals at reasonable prices.

He would take in trades as well that helped cut costs. I did buy a lot from him and was my go to when he was around.

So where is everyone buying? Especially readily available high end or mid-tier corals. Dropping into a LFS and saying you want X high end zoa frag or some nice SPS/LPS.

Lakesidereefing has nice torches (Midland Park) - but not named ones sitting around like a CoralCruze HG, etc.
Coral garage has some nice options (i believe they are more mariculture/wild) while reasonably priced, a bit far for bergen county tho (1hr +) and in his garage so not like you can browse and take your time picking out what you want.

There must be a LFS thats a hidden gem like Iconic.

Yeah, def make purchases at Lakeside.

Going on a zoa adventure and really miss walking into a LFS and browsing some really sick ones from $ to $$$.

Really need a new spot that I can purchase from reasonably, avoid shipping fees and deaths without driving to philly or paying the insane NY tolls.

I’ve been in pieces of the ocean and they do have nice stuff, but it’s a little bit of a drive, that’s the only NY store I’ve been in

Yeah I was going to mention pieces of the ocean but gotta pay tolls. I like using their app reef and bid. Can get lot of nice stuff for reasonable prices if you win the bids !
If the weather is good ill just have them shipped to me because its almost the same as paying the tolls/gas lol
