I am upgrading my lighting from 2 X 175 Watt 20000K XMs to 2 X 250 Watt Blueline 10000K + (14000K?) running on Blueline E-Ballasts. Along with this I have 2 110 Watt VHO 50/50s which I also had running w/ my 175s as well. My question is this:

Will this increase in Wattage/Intensity freak my SPS and other corals out big time, or will they be able to handle this change?

What is the best way to transition the tank to the new lights?

I have a 90 Gal RR AGA which is 24 inches deep. Most of my Acros are pretty high up (like maybe 6 inches or less water "above their heads".

Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The SPS will freak out from such a big jump in light intensity. There are a couple of things you can do to acclimate them to the new lighting. Reduce the duration of the photo period and slowly increase it a little each day. Or place several layers of window screen over your tank and remove a layer every couple of days.
