It was an acciden that'll work out for you.
Did a few of these, and if you keep the overflow under the plastic rim the water level in the tank seems way too low visually.
I always cut through the moulding and ran the overflows high, exactly as you have em, and the water level is much more acceptable visually.
Hi Mark
On the bulkhead fitting through the back glass it came with two gaskets one behind the flanged then I used one between outside glass and external overflow.
I have no external leaks but with power off I get water trickle through bulk head nut inside external box. Do I have placement right of the gaskets or should they both be inside the tank? Or should there be three gasket ? One behind bulkhead flange inside weir box, behind box inside tank and one outside on back glass between glass and external box?

I had this sump in basement and decided to try it out being iam only utilizing sump for equipment and no fuge. It can hold enough water with power off iam just goingvto see if it can handle a 5gallon top off if something was to go wrong.

I changed placement of gasket to inside the tank and seemed to fix the problem. Istill question why there is not an additional gasket between back glass and external overflow?

Well guys since I took some time off after my dad's funeral I figured I continue to clear my head and I did the aqua scape for the lion cove/ mangrove tank.
My main concern was to get the plants situated so I could get those roots growing. I actually have three plants that have rooted to rock on left side of tank.iam probably going to move center rock so will will see.
I will try to get better pictures soon!
Peace!!
P.s. powerhead is not staying in tank. I also have to make a new sump and return nozzle.
Iam picking a dwarf lion this week and wanted to have it in this tank.

My condolences. I didn't know your dad died.
He contracted covid and had copd things just continue to get worst . His heart failed jan.31st it was the hardest not being able to be with him but I did manage to speak to him Friday the 29th.
He was in alot of pain due to other medical issues so he is at peace not that it makes it easier.
Thank you

If you need macro, I can trim some. My radiata likes to perch on it sometimes. Usually I see dwarf lions hanging on the substrate, but never owned one so not sure if they also like to perch on higher areas.
That would be awesome.
