Really!!!! Do you need to put in a airpump/airstone or keep it at a temp range? How do you know you crashed it?

I keep mine in buckets outside right now. I used to have an airstone heater and adding water as I use it but really it's like an algae. it's just been sitting there for weeks and it's green as hell
