Loc-Line question

I'm planning a tank and I have a question about Loc-Line; In short, how reliable is it? The reason I ask is because I plan to have a couple of Loc-Line runs going form back to front towards the bottom of the tank. The Loc-Lines (two runs) will be under the sand and will ultimately have rock on top of them. I'd like to hear people's long-term experience with them.

Thanks.

I've used loc line for my returns, I haven't had any problems with it. (other then price, lol) But honestly, both returns only used about 6" of loc line. So I don't know if I could be a reliable source for info on it.

I wouldn't waste my money on the pliers they try to sell you either, You can snap those things apart with your hands. It can be a little tough sometimes, but you don't need those pliers.

Just keep in mind that the sand may get into the joints and make it harder to be moved around. they are pretty reliable, but I would probably just go with 1/4 inch PVC (not glued) for cost reasons. Occasionally, they leak around the joints, but you need to only worry about that when it's outside the water.

Not sure why you would want loc line under the sand. You could just run PVC to where it will come up out of the sand then adapt it to fit the loc line.

I have found loc-line to be realiable. Are you planning on using basic loc-line or the loc-line "circle flow assembly"with the with the mini nozzles?

I'm really not sure what it is you're talking about. I thought that Loc-Line was just... well, Loc-Line. I haven't done much research but please feel free to point me in right directions. Also, I think that running PVC and then terminating with Loc-Line is a better idea. Thanks for all the posts and please keep more info flowing.

Thanks.

Yep, that's what I was thinking about. PVC is definately cheaper, but I thought you might be thinking about something with the "circle flow assembly".

Thanks to everyone for posting. I did some more reading and I can now say that I'm not going to do the circle flow. My primary reasons for starting this thread was to get an idea of the durability and dependability of Loc-Line since I've never used it and I did want to run it under the sand. But the plans have changed slightly thanks to suggestions to use PVC under the sand/rock and then connect Loc-Line to the PVC.

Thanks again.
