Looking for feedback on the Red Sea Max S line

I owned the RSM250 66gallon I had that tank for 4 years it was a great tank until I started getting into real reef keeping I ended up having to custome fit an overflow and spend tons of extra cash on a sump skimmer and fuge cause the stock components were not good enough... I wish I would have researched more before buying cause the amount I spent to make the tank worth it I could have built my own three times the size... Now that was back when the 250 was the biggest tank they made... The new larger tanks now come with sumps, and skimmers, and lighting that isn't closed in so that would elevate the heat issues.. It all depends on you for the price of the 175 you could build your own much cheaper.. But they are awesome tanks and very well built.. Reefsanctuary.com has a section just for red seamax owners maybe skim thru some tank threads and see if there are any issues with the new model tanks..I traded mine for a 120 a few months ago and haven't been on there since...

Here are my upgrades I had to do..

If you go to Trop they have the 120 RSM tank setup and running and it is quite impressive.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the store, aquarium center has I believe the 650 set up and it is very nice. Maybe if you're ever in the area go check it out.

Thank you all. Trop is much closer for me. Ill go take a look at that. Mike brings up a very good point though. I could probably set up a much better system with all high end equipment for that price. I still question the quality of the components especially the skimmer and sump set up.

I'm not sure if the one at trop is the s-series. Been a little while since I've been there so I'm not positive.

You a lot closer to Trop, but Hidden Reef out in PA has the 650 set up. It's nice but I agree with Mike above, If your gonna do it you could def build a better system for less then the cost of the RSM.
