Is this a good len(s) and price from b+h Tamron 28-80mm f/3.5-5.6 and 70-300mm f/4-5.6 di LD macro two lens kit for Nikon AF $209.
will use it for tanks and nature shots. cant beet that price

both lens are not that fast for anything that is moving fast. If I was you, i would get a Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro lens. it is a fast lens, sharp lens for the money and long run. If you just want to take picture of fish or coral, you just need to get yourself an extension tube that will get you close to the subject. The extension tube I would recommend for nikon digital camera is Kenko set. these extension tube has electronic contacts which retain all functions between lens and camera. Now question for you, Do you have any prime lens or zoom lens in the range of 105mm or longer yet? you most likely need lens in 100mm lens to get you a distance from subject. You don't want to submerge your camera in water while taking picture nor disturb the fish while photography them.. Let me know if you need help on macro. if you live in Somerville or near by area, I can let you borrow my macro lens to try.

I have 2 lenses 17-55 and 55-200 I live in ocean twp. phyl just went to b+h web site and searched around in lenses saw that as an option

i bought a tamron set from B&H for my nikon d50, it was a tamron 28-80 and 70-300... i know myself, another 2 friends and a friend of mine is a professional photographer who uses the same lenses and recommended them to us. We use the cameras non-stop for Freestyle motocross, the crazy sport where guys are jumping dirtbikes at high speeds doing tricks and the shots are crystal clear, so I wouldnt be worried about the speed of the lens... i think for the money you cant go wrong unless you are doing super professional photography where your shots will be blown up and what not

never bought these lenses. finally ready to purchase and I'm looking at a nikon 105 2.5 Ai'd used for 149. in E cond. Is this a decent lens for the money?

it's a fixed lens. manual focus. any opinons? want to make the decision yesterday. also dont want to purchase a mistake. I think it's an older lens think it came out in the early 90's
