Hello everyone,

My MH bulbs are about 6 months old. How long should i give them before replacing? I've heard so many esoteric opinions on this matter...opinions?

I am looking to replace my coralife 14k bulbs for phoenix 14k bulbs, toughts?

Rod

The phoenix bulb is the better of the two imo. The reeflux 12K and Radium 20Ks are other good options. Personally, I lean towards replacing my MH bulbs after 16 months+ and them keep them as backups.

But the important question would be why are you looking to replace the bulbs?

not wanting to but just want to make sure i don't over extebd the bulb and make my corals suffer.
I want to switch from coralife because, for a 14K bulb, they lack blue tint for my taste and the whole purpose of me using 14k was not to use actinincs as well. Now my corals do very well with under the coralife bulbs, just for my personal taste i would like a little more blue tint.

16 months might be a bit to long, I beieve every 12 months is better but will let others chime in .

Just put in the pheonix 14k bulbs and they throw out a very nice blue color. Highly recommend them.
