Micro Fuge is it a waste of time?

Would I be wasting my time with something like this?

I have a 20 gallon LRFO in my bedroom and I was thinking about adding a small fuge to it
On it I am running a Aqua clear 70 off the side and a Cascade 150 on the back.

Now here's what I was thinking Option 1 would be to take the 150 and block off part of the intake area to have a down flow to the media area put as much cheato as I can fit and just have it run into the tank.

Option 2 would be to get a hang on plastic breeder tank or something on that line and put it inside the tank with the 150 flowing into it and over flow into my tank. With a larger area I was thinking I might
Add some live sand, cheato and maybe some live rock rubble.

Option 3 ???

Has anyone here tried anything like this or would the small size be a waste of time?

Welcome To NJRC!

For option 3 you could use a hang on the back fuge. Like THIS one.

I dont think stuffing Cheato in that filter will help you. That is too small of an area.

The idea of your filter flowing into a breeder box is pretty cool, although that might be too small as well. On the other hand, any type of nutrient export will be good!

Thanks for the welcome. seems like my kind of place I was reading a lot last night... ;D

I saw that CPR unit but I don't have the room in back of the tank. That's why I was thinking option 1 and 2 for 2 I was also thinking about a dip box (like they use at LFS to hold the fish when they bag it, they make them deeper then breeders
and it might not look "that bad" if I load it up the right way. but hey, it's a thought, I'm still a bit old school learning new tricks

read up on nano-reef.com or google it... alot of people w/o much room modify the aquaclear filters into a small refug. Since you already have one that might work out well for you.

Okay, I made a small fuge and had it under the flow of a HOB filter, I didn't like it so I did this instead, I'm still waiting for the silicone to cure I'll post some pick when I hook it up.
