MICROBE LIFT ALL-IN-ONE REEF/MARINE SUPPLEMENT

HI,

I was looking for an all in one coral supplement so I didn't have to buy 20 different bottles of stuff and I came across MICROBE LIFT's ALL-IN-ONE. I followed the directions for my tank (29 gallon / halved the dosage) 2-4 capfulls per 50 gallons, 1-2 times per week. After about a week and a half of treatment, my corals seemed to look more open and I was impressed, but shortly my tank started to take the red/brown algae turn so I immediately stopped adding the supplement. I also added some phosphate remover that I had on hand from an earlier red algae outbreak just as precaution and soon the tank started to clear back up again. Now, I want to supplement my tank for the health of all living things in it, but I'm not willing to go back to the depths of red/brown algae hell to do it. Did I add too much too soon? Did I just use too much? Is this product any good? Is there a better all in one product out there for my corals? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!

I've never seen this product, but it sounds like the product adds more nutrients to the water column. I have been using Reef Plus and another reef product now for a few weeks and I have noticed that the bubble algae and hair algae is growing a lot more. As with your tank my corals are also growing much better and my BTA has gone from almost no symbiotic bacteria to almost full color - so who knows? I'm also seeing things like Medusa worms splitting/reproducting like crazy and new forms of macro algae that I haven't even ID'ed yet. I can deal with the little bit of extra life - good and bad. By the way, I did see some red algae on the bottom and I left it alone and it disappeared after about 2 weeks. How long did you leave it before switching?

I have a few patches of brown algae with bubbles on it still. I rub it off and it returns. I used my supplement for about a week and a half before I stopped. Now I am not putting anything in. Just doing normal RO water changes. I wonder if its just normal to have some extra growth. Maybe I'll cut the dosage in half again and retry. I will wait for more responses before doing so though.

Don't bother with supplements just do regular water changes with RO or RO/DI water and your tank will be fine. Those supplements add to much unwanted nutrients and screw up your water quality. If your tank is less than a year old all sorts of algae will come and go. It's part of the maturing process of a new tank.
