Hello everyone!

So glad it's finally warming up, now I can get acquainted to my backyard again!

Some of you may have noticed changes in the names of moderators listed on the forums so I wanted to take a couple of minutes to explain them to you.

We are welcoming three members of our community to the fun world of moderating, JRWHOLER, TAZMANIANCOWBOY, and TBONE. Please take it easy on them!

We also have to recognize the moderators that are staying on board for yet another term! Your dedication is very much appreciated! They are JohnS_323 and PANMANMATT. Thanks guys!

Malulu will stay on with Photo of the Month and Debfife will stick around a little longer helping with the meetings, your efforts are deeply appreciated!

To all the previous moderators that have given their time to help the community in a not always appreciated position…thank you! Come back any time!

The BOD will no longer be listed as forum moderators. They will take on an advisory capacity to the moderators and act as mediator in the case of any questions on policy or procedure.

The moderation process works as follows,

Blatant thread with foul language, non-reef related items, or blatantly commercial get moved to the MOD forum for further action.

Questionable threads get reported, then the MOD opens a discussion in the MOD forum where the appropriate action is agreed upon by the MOD team with the help of the BOD as needed.

When a thread is pulled or edited the process is as follows,

Thread is moved to moderator forum with an explanation of the reason for discussion.

The moderator sends out a standard pm to the member that created the thread with a copy to the President or Vice President of the Club. In this PM the moderator informs the member that his post is under review and a BOD member will get in touch with him soon. The member is also encouraged to reach out to the BOD in case he/she believes that his post was pulled erroneously.

No PM exchange should be needed from that point on with the moderator; the BOD will take it from there and act as a neutral entity between the member and the moderator team. Our hope is that this will take some pressure off the moderators so they can also enjoy the Club while volunteering their time to the community.
No personal attacks towards the moderators will be tolerated and in any case be it publicly or via PM, will result in a two week time out.

If your thread was pulled and you believe it to be a mistake, please contact a BOD member, do not reply to the moderator, they are volunteers and members just like all of us, sometimes mistakes will happen and if we keep our heads cool, they will also promptly be resolved.

Rules for posting in the “Deals & Steals” forum are now posted and stickied, it is all of our responsibilities as members to read them. Should anyone have any questions regarding the rules, please contact the BOD.

As always, the BOD is working hard to try to make the Club even better! I hope this clarifies some questions as well as helps to bridge the gap between the “US” versus “THEM” mentality…we are all “US”, we are all in this together.
