Moving my 27 Gallon Cube

Ok so finally the time has come to move my tank... Its a 1 and half year old SPS dominated 27 gallon cube with a 5 gallon sump... My issue is I would really like to get rid of the live sand and run the tank bare bottom... I know that it is probably teeming with life at this point but I would like to be able to crank up the flow in the tank without sand blowing all over the place... My question is, is it possible to run bare bottom in such a small tank where water chemistry is an ongoing issue and there is such little room for error... I know that it is a very big part of my filtration... I have an over-sized skimmer so I am hoping the skimmer and live rock will be enough to keep things stable... Any thoughts... Anyone out there running a bare bottom nano with sps?
