Mp40 dead power supply

Has anyone replaced a power supply for an mp40 with a generic brick? It's a basic generic supply. Some no name brand. The old one is a 24v, 2.50 A PS. I got EcoTech to confirm the plug size is 2.5mm center positive. I found this - It's less than half the cost then the one from their parts store but I called and they refuse to confirm its a direct replacement. Smart customer service, huh? I'm out of warranty but a PS failed. I'm not asking for a free one, just not to get screwed by their 100%+ mark-up. Oh we'll, I digress... The only thing I'm uncertain about with the jameco one above is that it's 60W max output. Maybe someone with electronics knowledge can weigh in as to if that stat is relevant and could damage my driver or dry-side

The only thing critical with power supplies are voltage and amps (and that the adaptor end is correct in size and with positive/negative locations). With amps, you need to be equal to or more than what is needed. So since the current is 2.5 amps, you would want a replacement power supply that is 2.5 or greater.

Thanks Paul
i think the jameco one I linked to covers that. It says its 2.50 Amps if I'm reading it correctly. I think I'll order it - with fingers crossed of course. I'm not sure ecotech deserves my money for that and the extra $25-30 just for the privlege of paying them... well I'm all for helping the economy but that's just foolish

HERE you go......$11, shipped. Can't beat that!
Wow, you da man :). Thanks!! Ordered.
PS. Ecotech page on RC I got a PM from the rep's private handle saying to send it in and he'd see what he can do. I think I'll do that also. Worst case is paying to ship. Best case is a cheap spare

Thanks again for the find Paul!!!

Got it yesterday and it was a simple swap. The new power supply was listed on eBay as "2.5A" but looking at the label on the brick, it's listed as 2.2A. Still worked just fine. I shipped the bad one to EcoTech so I'll see what they come back with. I've heard of others getting cheap replacements and their customer service has treated me VERY fairly in the past. Like I said, I'd be more than happy to keep one as a spare.
