I am glad you figured out how to post pics, beautiful fish.

how long has that french angel been in this tank? I find it hard to believe the french hasn't gone after any of your corals. awesome tank btw. :)

I have had the French for about three months. He hasn't touched anything. I bought the fish because it was a beautiful specimen even knowing at the time that my LPS could be (his) dinner. I was willing to take the risk knowing that he wouldn't go after my SPS as these were the only corals that I wouldn't want touched.

Not too hard to believe that he hasn't touched anything (yet). Not all Angels read the book where it says "no angels in reef tanks".

I had seen that article on RC about the Gold Flake. So far after three years he is healthy and eats like a pig. I feed him mysis, clams, mussels, shrimp, squid, nori, and pellet.

Ken

PS- I also have a Potters Angel in the tank as well for 3 years.

I love Gold Flakes and definitley want one in the future. What kind of pellets are you feeding?

Did you quarentine with Praziquantel or Cupramine? All the people that lost their GFs in that thread treated theirs with antibiotics. I'm wondering if the medications damaged their intestions?

Thanks for the comments.

The tank is bare bottom now, but for the first 1 1/2 years, it wasn't. It's a long story but suffice it to say that either go bare bottom or make sure that you gravel siphon the sand or you will have "issues" with your tank. My 70 gallon (below) has some sand in the front only. I removed the sand in the back and under the bottom of the rocks as a preventative measure.

I did not quarantine the Gold Flake. I know about what they say but I have quarantined fish in the past for 4-6 weeks in copper and some still got ick when I put them in the tank. I think it still lives in the fish and if they are stressed, it is going to come out.

For pellet food, I feed New Life Spectrum, Ocean nutrition Formula One and Two

I never quarantined my fish either. Personally I think the copper method does more harm than good.
I'm a big fan of the New Life Spectrum pellets, especially the Thera A.
Beautiful tanks by the way if I hadn't mentioned it earlier.

Not QTing fish is not the best idea. Some peeople are lucky and others are not. I happen to be one that is not. If you are willing to take a chance introducing something to your tank that could wipe it out then dont QT. I have been thru it twice now and am not taking any more chances. I have done some reasearch and think I finally have my errors figured out with the QT process. I think you are correct about copper and if not used correctly you are in trouble. I wish anyone that does not QT the best of luck and hope you never have to go thru what I did.

That is an awesome GF and I wish you the best with it.

Thanks all for the comments.

I know they say quarantining is the best thing to do, but I have had success and failures both ways.

I think it can go either way with qt. Anyway that's a beautiful fish and i keep comin back to this thread to look at it! Where'd you get it abs fish?

I got the Gold Flake at Tropiquarium. I get about 90% of my fish from there. I feel good about the quality of their livestock.
