my other tank is a 15g

sooo. this is my 4th marine tank. i kept discus and piranhas a little more than 25 years ago. my first fish tank back then was a 120g.

so my first marine tank (like maybe year ago-something like that) was a 56 tall, the second was a 75 reef ready, and my third is a fluval flex 15 (still running).
new tank is a:

MEGA FLOW 210!

Really I feel like I could make so many jokes right now. I mean "mega flow?" that's what they decided to call it?

PC police are all over the place and I don't want to be labeled as a racist, xenophobe, misogynist or whatever else is waiting for me but really I have been called all these things. MEGAFLOW. decide for yourself!

is getting called out by the PC police better than getting called out by the tang police? ehhh it's a throw up on that one. meanwhile I'm still trying to figure out why I ever got married.

slow day but...

so yeah got her up and also bought some birch to skin under the panels. she is missing a couple of 2x6 on the footings and she is missing a 2x6 support going up.

got all those sorted out and will put on now. just a bit trimming first

not too much going to get done today. basically cleaning up and doing some real work $$$$ after that. but I did tack the interior floor, sides and rear with some nice birch this morning.

I don't have panels for the rear even though I decided to set the tank 14 inches from the wall. maybe I'll get panels? did this to prevent moisture from forming on the wall, giving me access to the windows behind the tank and also allowing me to get my vacuum cleaner back there. will I ever move this tank? who knows maybe.

and I did tack on the finishing panels. not the front as you can see. figured more panels on the frame would be less panels my kids could break.

now I am waiting for this textured plastic sheet I ordered to glue to the floor (bare bottom), a few bio-spira and a couple of boxes of reef crystals I ponied up for. then we start to fill.

so I got my rodi sorted out yesterday. just added di to my existing to system.

been waiting for an abs sheet I ordered for the floor of my tank. I kinda wanted to do an experiment. like jaubert style but with this plastic sheet instead of sand. anyway I skipped it.

I set up a heater to blow into the cabinet and a fan to blow into the tank from top. tank is sitting on a plywood shelf so heater not right on glass.

room is a bit warmer and the fan definitely is making that silicone smell stronger in the room. I think it will be cured in 36 or 48 hours now.

also I got my two boxes of reef crystals so I'm nearly ready to fill the tank. I've made 50 gallons of water, but I'm out of buckets. the rest will have to be made in the tank.

I'm thinking at this point to get a few more bottles of bio-spira and a couple more bottles of prime.

Are you going to do all of the rock work before you fill it?
I find it to be so much easier to stack and epoxy dry then fill the tank. The rock just seems to be more secure.

I haven't glued any of my rock in the past, I usually just stack it. but I am a bit concerned about falling rock being that this is such a tall tank.

I'm just thinking I won't be able to get it out if it's glued.

also it seems I don't even have that much rock lol.

I didn't want to use any of my old live rock but seeing as I don't have as much dry rock as I thought, I am now shifting to using some out of my damsel tank. that tank was a clean cycle without live rock and the critters it usually comes with.

the live rock out of my display is full of worms, Asterina, sponges... all this stuff I'd rather live without. that rock is going in a tank for 90 days while I figure out how to tackle the pests.

I also saw a worm crawling around in my chaeto last night, so there's another issue I need to deal with. guessing the pump will shred anything that tries to make it back to my main display

If you can wait bleach/water it all in a brute for a couple weeks with a circulation pump. Then vinigar/water for a week or two rinse for a couple days changeing water daily and your rock will be in great shape.
Pumps will not stop any pests.

I was thinking of going that way but I have such nice color on those rocks already... will give it more thought. I have a 20 long full of rock from my damsel tank with 0 pests. and I have 3 bricks wrapped in mesh laundry bags so I know 0 pests there too. that 20 long is also going to end up as my sump.

have to figure out how to clean out my chaeto. guess I can just start with a very small new piece that I rip off and inspect super closely. I haven't been growing the chaeto that long before I broke down my display. I had gotten it to grow from the size of a baseball to a soccer ball. I was just using two cheap lights from home Depot with par 38 bulbs. I might get one of those budget grow lights off eBay and see if that works better.

todays plans:

replace bottom shelf with thicker plywood.
screw in additional supports i've already cut and temporarily installed
level tank
begin to fill (ive got about 70 gallons made up as of this morning)
bit of aquascape

planned fish:

tangs
1 sailfin
1 yellow
1 tomini
1 powder blue
1 yellow belly blue

chromis
2 blue-green
2 black and white
2 lemon

cardinals
2 pj
2 benggai

clownfish
1 true sebae

damsels
1 bluefin
1 blue velvet
1 blue
1 lemon

wrasse
1 six line

put the new plywood floor in. ripped off one of the side panels with the birch underneath. going to utilize that space for a control panel. got some of my rock in. and started filling.
