Need suggestions

After a long debate and a possible move within 1 year I finally made the decision between a 180g and a 120g tank.

I went with the 120G :( I just thought it will be easier to move and once I get to the new place I could always upgrade ;).

I need suggestions with an external return pump for a 120g tank keeping in mind the 180g upgrade. Don't want to have to purchase something twice.

specs on the tank:

120g AGA with dual corner overflows
Sump considering a 40g breeder.

if you have the room, a pressure rated pump like the tarpon would work - but it's BIG...you could probably use it as a manifold for other equipment.

bax and jrwohler have 120s also - might check with them/their tale of the tank to see what they are running.

need a lil more info, to make a suggestion.

is he 40gal gonna be a sump/fuge? or sump only?
what type of corals will you be keeping?

i have some suggestions in mind, but need this lil info to steer you in the right direction...

will be a mix reef with the majority SPS and zoas. I'm still looking at my options on the sump and refugium. I will really like to have a refugium in separate tank.

i forgot to mention if you don't have the room and you need a pump in-sump - then you could use an mag12. With head loss it won't push the full 1200 gph your overflows can handle - but i'm not a fan of maximizing flow via the sump anyway. Just realize that I've found mags to generate some heat into the tank.

i just setup a 220g corner flow tank. my 220 is 700gph in each corner, try to find out what the gph rating is for cornerflow of that tand, oversize you pump you can always put a ball valve on it to slow it down and you can use it on the next tank if you upgrade.

i use a dolphin external pump (3600gph)and it work great. thats because i have the room for it since the tank is in the wall and the sump and everything else is in the garage.
