Nitrates

On another thread I posted that my Nitrates went to 160ppm. Yesterday I added a carbon reactor and swapped out the GFO in the other. Today my Nitrates are 80ppm. I bought a garbage can and faucet adapter for the RO/DI unit and am mixing up SW. I plan to do a 25g water change as soon as its ready. Then I think I will start vodka dosing; I will open another thread if I do.

After you do another water change of 25 gal,if your nitrates arent as low as you'd like them to be,you can do another water change to lower them some more.If you decide to do vodka dosing I would mix with orange juice to help with the taste

Nitrates are down to 40ppm from 160ppm after the WC.

Did you change 75 percent of the water?

The total water change was approximately 30 gallons. I should also add that after the first very small WC I put the carbon reactor in-line and replaced the GFO in another reactor.The nitrates dropped to around 80ppm.
