NY Aquatics in New Rochelle

So, I love this place. The store is an online store where you can either get your fish shipped or you can pick up (by appointment only).

Met Michael today to pick up my Borbonius Anthias (69.99!!!!). Had a bit of trouble with Mapquest directions by the GWB, but other than that, it only took me an hour and 20 minutes to get there from Bradley Beach. The way back only took me an hour and 5.

Great place, first off. Everything he had was super healthy. We talked for about 10 minutes and he was about as nice as humanly possible. I was watching him bag a shipping order and I can truly say just how great of a packager he is and how much goes into him getting something ready for shipping (so if you want to order something shipped, I can endorse his way).

Second off, the deals he has are incredible. Check out the site, www.nyaquatic.com. Borbonius Anthias for $69. Yellow Coris wrasses for $15. Blue flanked fairy's for $15. Etc, etc. Truly great deals around.

All in all, I give Michael a huge thumbs up. I didn't talk to him about the club and I don't know if anyone else has, but I'd shop there regardless, to be honest.

I thought he was a sponser at one point. I know I found out about him through this site. His prices are usually insanely low and he does get very rare fish (ie golden dwarf angels, moorish idols, etc.). In the past, he used to offer free shipping to NJ but with fuel surcharge, he stopped that I believe. I think now he does free ground but no live guarantee. I never bought from him but I did speak to him once and he was very pleasant and very knowledgable. I always mean to try him out sometime but buying one or two fish removes the cost savings. If I lived nearer to new rochelle, I probably would be dropping a lot of money over there.

I believe he has a 2 hour guarantee (IE 2 hours after delivery) for shipping.

I don't remember shipping being FREE for NJ, but it was only like $15 or something.

The only thing that's bad about him are his hours. I wanted to pick up some stuff this weekend but he does not allow weekend pick up and by the time I get out of work during the week he is already closed. Other than that great guy to deal with and talk to.

I think he has Sunday pick up ONCE in a while and would obviously have to be pre-arranged. I read that somewhere, but have never tried it.

A few people here have used them, but they've never been a sponsor.

Im not speaking on behalf of Mike but i know he a busy guy. Not only does he offer nice stuff but most of the time its at a great price.

If i can get it local i will but sometimes he got stuff thats too good to pass up and he gives away 100 bucks a month in free fish.

I talked to him about the swap but as i said hes a busy guy and doesnt have the equipment or time to set up a booth on a weekends especially. Im going to reach out to him now and let him know about the thread maybe he can pop in and talk to the mods.

With the exception of a couple fish from AO and a couple from fellow reefers all my fish are from Michael/nyaquatic, he used to offer UPS ground shipping to us in NJ which would run only around $10-$15 max but now only uses fedex priority overnight (still not to bad around $20-25 I believe). I've always had great livestock and any issues (arrived dead pistol ship) were quickly taken care of.

Placed order with Mike.

Regal Angel (not eating Hikari mysis (actually almost all my fish stopped eating this so wondering if I have a bad batch) as promised but eating something so good enough for me. Bigger specimen than I expected)
Power Blue Tang (looked gorgeous day 1. Was eating nicely then got eye infection and died. It happens.)
Potter's Angel (he told me it died and asked me what I wanted as replacements. Told him cleaner shrimp and banggai)
Cleaner shrimp (SG was pretty high. He told me it never saw his tanks. Had to slow drip this guy. Even then, couldn't get SG to match and dumped him in and hoped for best. He's shy but alive. Smaller than expected)
Banggai (forgot to ship. Will credit me)

Prices are great. Shipping is reasonable. Mike is an A+ guy and will not try to steer you wrong. Actually, he talked me out of orders before due to compatibility, etc. I would order from again but think I need a new tank first.
