parasite

is there any place on the internet (or book) where i can research parasites. I see some of ant sized critters in the tank, and not sure what they are.

By they way, assuming they are amphipods and copepods, these critters are good critters.

It’s amazing, if you have a few fish or fish that don’t eat them, it starts to look like an ant farm with all the running around. This is especially true if you check your tank at night with a flashlight.

Thanks!

They look like amphipods. Where did they come from?!

From mommipods of course! ;D

If you didn't add them then they came as a hitchhiker from live rock or corals that you added to your tank.

When I was fish-free for 10 weeks I had so many that they covered almost every inch of the glass during the day and at night. I also had major glass algae so they were chowing down on it.

The day the fish went in that behavior stopped for the most part, although the juvenile pods do still cling to the glass while they are needle spec sized. It's fun watching the clown fish swim around and instantly dart after pod to eat it. Or just suck it off the glass.
