pH Probe Calibration Problems

I have a new aquacontroller jr. and seem to be having problems calibrating the pH probe. I use the menu and go to calibrate, use 7 solution dip until its reading are stable do the same for the 10, but when it goes to register the calibration it states that the probe is malfunctioning. Everything is brand new...any suggestion would be a great help.

Did you remove the rubber cap from the end of the PH probe? Is the probe fully lugged into the unit?

Like Matt just said, make sure the cap is off. Before you calibrate it, let it sit in tank water for a few hours to hydrate.

Make sure you are using 7.0 and 10.0 regents, remember to tell the controller what # regent you are testing at that point before pressing select. Give it a good 5 minutes to stabilize before going to the next one. Rinse the problem off in RO before going to the next type.

Thanks for the input...

Didn't even realize that it had a rubber cap on the end.
I will take a look when I get home. Do I have to worry about taking anything off or apart that shouldn't be? How much solution should it be calibrated in (deep)?

It has been in the water for a few days and locked in the controller good.

When I calibrate mine I just open the pouch of solution and put the probe directly into it.

Only thing to take off is the rubber end cap. It should slide right off.

Went home on lunch and looked at the probe. The cap was still on. How are you supposed to know to take that off? Will re-calibrate tonight. Should be fine. Thanks everyone...

Calibrates fine now, feel like an idiot that I kept that cap on. Oh, well. Here is another question, what is the best setting/range to keep the ph at for the reactor to turn on and off.
