Placement of Corls

So this question relates to all corals, but in particular about the corals that I have. I have some zoanthids, some button polyps and some daisy polyps. My question/statement is in regards to the placement of corals in the aquarium and their health/happiness. The reason I brought this up is I moved my button polyps from the top of the aquarium to the mid/lower area and the almost instantly opened up larger then I have ever seen them. I am wondering if the light was too bright higher up in the aquarium for them. My other two corals are at the very top of the aquarium, should they also be lower? They are withing a few inches of the surface.

This is in a BioCube 14 with the stock lighting (two compact florescent and the LED bar)

The placement of all corals is subjective.Lighting, flow requirements listed are guides, not fact. I find what works for one persons tank may not be the same for mine. My corals will always find themselves moved around several times before I find their ideal place.

Zoas depending on where they are coming from can be high light or low light so it is going to depend on each frag. The general rule of thumb is to start low and then move them up if they are stretching for light. Be careful with the button polyps and keep them isolated off the live rock. They can get invasive.

Thanks for the input, good stuff. So far everything seems to be pretty happy. I do think I may need to move my zoas down a bit though.
