Turboflotor 1000

or

Berlin Turbo Classic

*Item is currently on clearance, does this mean, lack of sales for a not so great product?!

Any opinions, reviews other than the reviews already found on Dr. Foster's site.
My tank is a 55gal

Of the skimmers you listed, I'd go with the Turboflotor 1000.

I would also consider the AquaC remora skimmer.

The Berlin Turbo Classic is a fair skimmer, but you can do better.

Keep in mind that Drs Foster/Smith, while a good company to deal with, tends to sell low end to medium level products. If you want high end products, you usually need to look elsewhere.

If it's for a 55 and you need a HOB skimmer I'd go with the turbo multi 1000 unless you like the coralife one in that case I'd use the 125 and NOT the 65, they are both decent skimmers. I don't know enough about the octopus hang on skimmers other than they look a lot like the CPR backpack skimmers. If you plan to use a in sump them a Octopus or ASM skimmer would be a good choice.

I looked into some of the other skimmers...oh boy $$$$.
I scratched the Turboflotor off the list due to $ as I didn't realize it didn't come with the pump. I do have a 30gal sump/fuge that I can put the skimmer in to avoid the HOB approach.

Any objects to this ASM http://www.tfjpetcenter.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=183
compared to the Coralife 125
or this
Octopus http://www.tfjpetcenter.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=621

This time around. I want to make sure whatever skimmer I end up going with has readily available pumps, so I don't end up having to get a new skimmer each time the pump goes.

Btw, that X-flow looks pretty serious. Let me know if you end up getting it.

I know your trying to save money here (don't I know) but a skimmer is not the place to do it. being the main cleaner of a reef tank. its rated for up to 80 gal. depending on your load probably more like 40 gal.

I know a couple of people who run the asm mini on a 75 gal and they love it, I'd recommend going with a bigger skimmer if you plan on upgrading in the near future, otherwise it will be fine. As for the turbofloater they come with a ocean runner pump (unless something changed that I wasn't aware of)

I personally have used the coralife skimmer, ASM, remora and seaclone and I like the ASM the best, the coralife one was decant and worked good on my 46g, I hated the remora it never worked right. The seaclone was my first skimmer and it was ok on my 20 and 29 gallon but I wouldn't put it on a tank larger than 30g and really would recommend the coralife over it. IMO the ASM, euro reef and octopus's skimmers are pretty much the same design so it would be up to you which one you got. They are all a good choice.

I now use a ASM G1X on my 120 and a ASM G2 on my other tank which is about 160 gallons total water volume.

ASM is a better designed skimmer than the Coralife.

I agree w/ reeferwanabe and mott768, skimmer and lights are the two things you should not be cheap with in this hobby.

I had an ASM G2 on my tank and thought it was too small for the 150. I replaced with an Octopus which allowed me to go bigger for less $$$. I love both of them.
