Purple up?

used it in the beginning. It simply boosts up the necessary elements needed to increase the growth of coralline algae. One can do the same with water parameters in check +1 notch up. Increase Magnesium, Alkalinity, Strontium and Calcium and add a few scrapings of coralline algae and you'll have similar results. Just try not to overdose too much. Changes in reef tanks are better going slow.

He just wants an easy way to bloom his coraline. I was going to give him a piece of my rock and tell him to add purple up.Is there soemthing better?

scrape off coralline off your glass and then have him add purple up~ much faster results! and even much faster if his water is in check.

I used the purple up when i was starting my 46 bowfront . I noticed a lil bit difference. Make sure you dont add too much or the bad stuff will start growing. Now I Use the Kent Marine alkalinity , calcium , and mag in dosing . and they seem to work a lil better

Anyone have some experience with this product? Does it work? Will it end up posioning the tank? Etc etc.

Thanks!
imo it is an expensive calcium additive with an iodine kicker. The two main ingredients in Purple up is water and Aragonite powder. Aragonite adds nothing to the tank until the tanks pH goes below 7.

Coralline scraping (to include on the rock) goes along way in it's spreading
