Question about my filter

Got my internal surface filter just wondering it came with 1 bag of marine grade carbon, 1 bag of Nano-balls bio media, 1 mechanical filter pad. (I'm taking the bio balls out) but the carbon can stay right? Just wanna make sure.

Keep the carbon,the pad is questionalbe unless you rinse it evey week or so to keep it from becoming a stable part of your biological filter.

In time the pad makes a great mini star collector.My intake pads get covered all the time.
