I just started a 10 gallon tank,is it a must that i get a skimmer?

Nope. I run a 65 without one and a small nano without one as well. You'll want to keep up with good sized water changes if you're going to keep anything challenging. With softies & LPS they're pretty tolerant of less than spectacular water quality so it isn't as much of an issue.

I agree with Phyl, keep up with water changes and you'll be fine.

and make sure:
- water change with SALT water
- top off with non-SALT water
