Woke up today to only 3 fish :( One of my clown fish were missing. looked everywhere until i noticed a piece of a fin sticking out of the intake of the one power head... I guess i need to take this power head out or put some foam in there... What should i do about getting another clown? The one that died was about an 1" so i'm sure it was the male... :( :( :(

Clowns are hermaphroditic, they all start out as males. As long as you buy a juvinile, you could possibly pair them off. The type of clown will also play a role in the deciding factors. Usually the more aggressive ones like maroons are more difficult then say true/false percs. Sorry for your loss. :'(

They're false percs, oh and they start as unsexed? then turn into male then female?

Phil, no it was my aqua clear 402... I don't think koralia can really such a fish to it since it's sucking water from all around it.

Technically they are just "pre-pubescent"....but I believe your order is correct...
so there's a big-dame female, smaller guy-male, and a bunch of small juveniles. If the dad dies - one of the juvies steps up to be the man. If the female dies, the male steps up to be female, and the juvie steps up to be the man.

I like to call it Clown Contingency Plan. (imagine dr. evil with a pinky to his mouth).

Yeah lol I've read my "Clownfish" book like 536475 times... I want to try breeding so bad... i really like baby clownfish they look so awesome! hahahah

I have false percs as well. I introduced my 2nd one about 6 months after my first one and they hooked up in less then an hour. I hope you have as much luck as I did.
