Seriously considering re-aquascaping my tank tomorrow. well at least half of my tank. this would require removing a some large pieces of LR, breaking them into smaller pieces, and making a taller wall on the left side. within 4 inches or so of the surface. i would have to remove and relocate some corals to do so, any suggestions? do's or dont's??

i really like having rock going all the way to the top, its what i did in mine and it looks really natural. the only thing i can say (i found out the hard way) is do your best to have the base rocks laying on the bottom of the tank and not on the sand so you dont wake up in the morning like i did only to find something burrowed under the rock and knocked the whole thing over..lol..
mix up plenty of water right now and equalize to your tank. pour some tank water in the holding tank (or buckets), pour it back in tank. Drain and do it again. That way, your water is close to if not equal to your new water and "old" tank water. It should minimize stress instead of adding fresh saltwater into your existing salt water after you complete your aquascape. There WILL be a lot of dirt stirred up. Best you have "equalized" water ready on hand.

i dont want to disturb the sand too much by moving all the sand out of the way, but i plan to drive the base rock as deep as possible into the sand bed

actually, i am just going to put all the corals in fuge during the renovating.

understood, but with all the commotion in re-aquascaping, you will want to do a water change to reduce any potential organics that could be released into the water column, it's a preventative measure as well as an excuse to do a minor water change.

hmmmm, just did a water change a few days ago. i dont have enough RO/DI to do a decent WC change right now
