Reef Devil protein skimmer

I maintain a 20G at the moment and recenlty got a decent deal on a Reef Devil protein skimmer. Has anyone used it in an out-of-sump installation ? Any feedbacks about the skimmer ?

This summer I hope to be able to convert the 20G into a sump/frag tank and the 40G above to my main tank. In such situations should I look for a skimmer good enough for 60G (combined capacity) or 40G(maintank capacity) ?

personally ive never heard of the reef devil but if its an in sump skimmer its going to be tricky to make it out of sump. i think it would be more headache to do so then its worth.

as for the 60 or 40 gallon rating i suggest on to be 80-100 if not 120 (or even more) gallons rated. i say this because for one its better for your system and it also allows you room to further upgrade without having to worry about another new skimmer.
the trick is to read online reviews on skimmers as some are worth your time and others arent worth anything.

Its marketed as both in-sump and out external use. The reviews were mostly good, but I would any day trust a fellow members opinion more than some stranger with a keyboard.

I am in no real hurry for a skimmer, I could wait till I have more understanding of what I would like out of the equipment.

I have a reef devil deluxe . Used both internal and external. I don't use it anymore as it is an extremely finicky skimmer. Any food, additives or water height fluctuation will wipe out the skimmer for hours !!!! I would go with a skimmer that uses needle wheel tech over downdraft.
