Reefmergency!!!!!!!!!!!

Im lost madame prez.

Its been three days no invert is showing any signs of stress. The only thing i can think of is if my tank move on satuday stressed them out too much. It just took a day or two for them to show signs of extra stress.

Rock is fully cured, the only think i can be sure about being fully cured is the rock dave gave me. I doubt it though it had no smell or anything.

I'm lost too. The numbers aren't adding up to the behavior. That level of stress seems surprising given the little bit of change they've been through (I've put many a fish through far "worse" and not have them change behavior).

What kind of clowns are these? Are these the ones that you got that were the delicate shippers? I'd turn off the lights for a couple of days to reduce their stress a bit, add garlic and selcon to their foods and hope for the best. I'd keep my hands out of the tank and stop doing water changes (unless the tests indicate significant ammo, but with the bio you should be able to prevent the need for even that).

These are the ones i got from Will. They been with me for at least a year and been very very healthy.

Im gonna wait it out. The female looked bad and this morning she was swimming around a little. Still breathing heavey but moving. The male was still breathing heavey and in the corner.

Are they discolored in anyway? pale or loss of color, red gills, a white film or specs on them? Anything differant other than the heavy breathing?

They were pale when the lights came on but colored up as soon as the lights went on. NO film no spots, no red gills.

Just heavey breathing and the male doesnt move he just breathes and stays on the bottum glass in the corner. This morning the female was mobile going in and out of her anemones but still breathing heavey

If it is a o2 problem try adding a air stone and see if it helps or if anything changes ??? other than that try adding bio spira and garlic to their food, It wont hurt to try.

Did you recently remove the sand in this tank? If yes, how long was the sand established?

update i went home and the peice of macro rock is turning brown and has some bubbles coming out of it.

Im assuming this means its not cured?

turning brown is a sign of diatoms and the bubbles i beleive are trapped inorganics or nitrates, but i'm not an expert so i could be wrong either way it's not good. the diatoms at this point are the least of your worries. I would remove the rock to be on the safe side

As of this morning the females clowns breathing has slowed and she looks fine. No ammonia nitrate or nitrite.

I am going to attibute this t changing from Hydor koralia nanos to hydor koralia 1 at night time. It must have stressed them out.

Bummer but I don't understand how the Koralia 1 could do it. I have an internal pump on my tank plus a Koralia 2 in a 24G. Maybe it was something different. Maybe something poisonous on your hands when you changed something or on the rock even. Could just be stress too. The airstone suggestion would never hurt. My Koralia is aimed up and across the surface for what it is worth, the only negative I ever see is my frogspawn doesn't expand as much on the turbulent side.

Glad they are feeling better. :)

I had two koralias in there which is 800 gph but this tank doesnt sit with the long side against the wall.

The short side is against the wall. All the flow was hitting the front short side. It immediately rushed back and was blowing the clowns in the back wall. Im not sure it was soo much of too much flow but how it was aimed.

The flows were fighting sooo hard to swim foward. I let the power heads on for an hour and came back and they were against the back glass breathing heavey. The flow blew a frag that might gave me that day on a frag disc from the front of the to the middle area.

Im gonna do some more testing tonight and see what happens. Im supposed to pick up a new anemone tommorw. Im going to ask the guy to hold it for me if my test come back out of wack.

So you basically made a one of those endless lap pools ;D with no turtle to hitch a ride on.
I suppose my tank is more cubish. Good luck in any case.
