removing frags from plugs

i'm looking to remove all my frags off of plugs and get IC Gel to set them onto LR.  i don't like the look of the plugs.

i don't want to use a straight blade and possibly cutting the bottom of the tissue which may cause distress to the frags.  should i dip in lugol's after?

looking for the best method to prevent as much damage as possible.

Are we talking SPS, LPS, zoas ???

In general, things with soft tissue like zoas or GSP you can use the razor and it'll recover.

For SPS if it has begun to encrust the plug, about all you can do is break off the un encrusted portion of the plug and glue what remains to the rock, the puddling, or encrusting SPS will hide that irregular piece of plug soon enough and you'll not know it is there.

I like dipping in Lugol's or TMPCC or Betadine solution after handling or fragging. But it is not always required.

If the frag isn't covering the whole top of the plug yet. I take the frag cutters and hold the cutting side against the top of the plug. Then cut the frag off. It doesn't really cut the frag, it will pop the whole piece off and you'll have a clean plug left. I do this because i use to just pry them off with my fingers but the frag never comes off nice, if it's been on there for a while it always breaks. Or even worse you break a branch off. Then i just ic gel them on or use putty. Depends where they are goin
