I don't feel like he's getting enough food from grazing, mainly because theres not too much algea for pods to hide. When I do feedings, the clown seems to get everything very quickly. What I do is try and target feed him by waiting for him to swim to the top and dropping food by him. The only problem with this is the fact that I don't want wasted food rotting on the sand bed. Should I by live pods for him, or does anyone have tips?

That's a really good idea, especially being that my solution has been a combination of overfeeding mixed with extra water changes, which I was going to continue until my pod colony started to grow.

That's sad. Since I got into saltwater fish tanks 7 years ago, Scooters have always been my favorite. I guess it's because the first fish I ever bought was a scooter. I had that little guy for 5 years and then gave the whole tank to a friend. When he told me 2 months later that he had died, I was a pretty eaten up inside. It sounds funny to be sad over the death of a fish, but the thing is, it should be our goal as aquarists to keep these fish and corals alive as close to their natural life spans as possible. When you have a fish that long and you watch him grow over the years, you do begin to feel a relationship with them, just like any other pet, ya know.

Try capelin roe (masago). Scooters will eat it and most fish will only eat it while it is in the water column and ignore it once it drops to the rocks/sand bed. Finding it might be prove difficult as I usually get it when I go to NYC.
